How to adjust the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)

The Ford 2.3L Turbo TPS is located on the back of the throttle body which is connected to the upper intake manifold.

You have to disconnect the Idle Air Controller connector. It's just above and forward of the valve cover oil breather.

First get the engine to normal operating temperature. You will have to set the base idle before setting the TPS voltage. To set the TPS you need to probe the green wire and the black wire with a digital voltmeter. Do this with the engine off but with the key in the run position.

Hook the green wire to positive and the black wire to negative. The voltage should read between .95 and .99 volts. Any car with the PE ECU should be set to .90 or .91.

To adjust the TPS you need to loosen the two screws and rotate the TPS. Be careful not to damage the gasket.
